Founded in 1987, United Way of Yavapai County was operated for five years entirely by volunteers. Its first campaign raised $58,000. Since that time almost $5 million has been raised to support health and human services throughout Yavapai County.
United Way is governed by a committed all-volunteer Board of Directors, many having served as volunteers for United Way in other parts of the country. They make decisions as to where dollars are allocated for the 32 agencies and programs funded.
Volunteers and staff have developed a Directors Council of Agencies to coordinate administrative and fund raising activities that more effectively serve over 72,000 clients these agencies help annually.
United Way Volunteer Center of Yavapai County has placed over 2,000 volunteers with County nonprofits since its foundation in 2001.
United Way has also increased its efforts to raise the public awareness of itself and the agencies it serves in the local communities, using Loaned Executives and extensive media marketing.
With continued growth and community commitment United Way of Yavapai County will meet the growing needs of our area. We will continue to partner with new companies, agencies and volunteers to meet those needs.
The United Way builds partnerships to meet the diverse needs of the people of Yavapai County through education, development and volunteerism.
