The Highlands Center for Natural History is devoted to providing outdoor-science education for all ages. The Highlands Center’s mission is to help children and adults discover the wonders of nature and become wise caretakers of the land. The Highlands Center embraces a balance among ecological protection, economic prosperity, and community well being.
In addition to its original 20-acre site on Williamson Valley Road, the new Highlands Center for Natural History campus near Lynx Lake is now open to the public. This campus offers an interpretive center with a beautiful two-mile loop trail down to Lynx Creek. The 80-acre outdoor-science learning center is the result of a partnership between the Highlands Center and the Prescott National Forest. The site is open from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. from April through October and from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. from November through March.
