 Tuesday

One of my favorite sounds is the sound of laughter.  Proverbs have a lot to say about the healing effects of laughter.  Hospitals today are using laughter in the cancer wards for assisting patients who are considered critical, one way is to show videos of old 3 Stooges or Laurel & Hardy movies.  Isn’t it more pleasant to see a smile on a face rather than a frown? Recent tragedies such as the Tsunami’s in South Asia and it’s terrible death toll, the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and our own devastating hurricanes constantly reminds us of how precarious life can be.  We are living in harrowing times since 9/11 and are looking for a moment or two when we don’t need to dwell on so much  tragedy and just have a good laugh. The Psalmist reminds us that “The Joy of the Lord is my strength.”  Why not bring a little of this joy into someone’s life and share a laugh or two with them.  Remember, God gave us this wonderful gift of laughter and Laughter is good for the soul!”

There’s a very interesting scripture that has had a tremendous impact on me not only as a Christian, but a pastor.  It comes from Romans 8:1-2, “there is therefore NOW no condemnation for those who are in Christ, because, through Christ, the law of the Spirit has set you free from the law of sin and death.”  This brings one to a question.  What is the law of the Spirit?  Think of the spelling in the word, LAW.  L stands for Love.  A means Accepted.  And W means you are Worthy.  God loves you.  He accepts you just as you are, right where you are, and He makes you worthy by removing all sin.  This is truly the Law of the Spirit.  If you want the Law of the Spirit in your life, turn from sin and put your faith in Jesus Christ as both Lord & Savior!  

Thursday

The more we see and read about violence, terrorism, fires, famines and poverty, the more I am convinced it won’t be long before the Lord returns and sets up His Kingdom.  Are you prepared for His second coming?  The bible says He will come like a thief in the night and that no one knows the day or hour of His coming, but we should be ready.  Jesus tells the parable of the 10 virgins in which 5 had their lamps ready and five didn’t.  The five who did entered into the place of honor at the feast, the ones that didn’t were left wanting. When that day comes which one will you be? Every Sunday at both the 10:00am and 11:30 am services, we endeavor to help you find the answer!

Friday

Do you ever feel sometimes like if you have one more thing piled on, you’re just going to throw up your hands and give up.  Maybe you’ve been in an accident and our homebound recovering.  Maybe you’ve have an illness that is totally debilitating.  Maybe you’ve lost your job or a source of income that has seriously strapped you financially.  In 1Cor.10:13, it says, “No testing has seized you except what is common to man.  And God is faithful to not allow you to be tested beyond what you can bare.  But when you are tested, He will provide a way out, so you can stand up under it.”  So you see all is not hopeless.  God knows the way out, trust Him!  Jesus died on a cross for you and me and is our anchor for the soul, He says, “Cast all your cares upon me, for I care for you!
